THINGS TO DO IN ORLANDO FLORIDA
Audubon Center For Birds Of Prey
The Audubon Center For Birds Of Prey is located in the City of Maitland and the Town of Eatonville. They rehabilitate and release Florida's raptors, which in and of itself is great, but for me, the best part is that I get to go there and see the raptor's up close and personal. Even better, is the Baby Owl Shower in May. They rescue many baby birds every year. And some are baby owls! They let you see them up close. So cute! It's a a great event to do for Mother's Day!
Orlando Lakefront At College Park
Orlando Lakefront at College Park is proud to be part of The Tiny House Movement. It's located on the Southern tip of Lake Fairview. It has 39 tiny homes and 50 spaces that tiny homers can lease. There are a selection of 10 high-end tiny homes available for vacation rental. They even have a laundromat, community garden and a pet park. You have access to the lake for all sorts of activities like fishing, kayaking even a boat dock! This place is adorable!
Lake Eola
Lake Eola sits in the heart of downtown Orlando. My favorite part is the people watching. Groups gather to practice magic, yoga, acrobatics and more. You can walk around the entire lake and admire the public art that has been installed. There are swan shaped paddle boats to rent and even entertainment at the Walt Disney Amphitheater frequently. Hungry? Quite a few restaurants are within walking distance of the lake and you'll even find Persimmon Hollow Brewing Co. in the Northeast corner.
Faith Arts Village Orlando
Faith Arts Village Orlando is a hotel that was restored by Park Lake Presbyterian Church to provide artists with affordable studio space and a place to display and sell their art! They have events open to the public on the first Friday of every month where you can discover local artists, purchase some incredible art, be entertained and get a snack at the variety of food trucks at the event.
Plant Street Market Winter Garden
Plant Street Market is in a large, "old town feel" brick building in Downtown Winter Garden. The front opens to a long area stretching in front of you with food vendors and a few retail vendors lining the sides. There's ceviche, cold-pressed juices and smoothies, pizza, vegan food, sweets, tea, coffee and more! If you make it to the end of this long stretch, you'll find the Crooked Can Brewing Company that have specialty brews and hold tours on Sundays. I personally love getting a little snack at each vendor and making a whole day of relaxing and eating tasty treats!
Greenwood Cemetery
Greenwood Cemetery is Orlando, Florida's oldest cemetery. I took this picture while on a Moonlight Walking Tour. There is a lot of history here and some interesting stories that go with it. I personally find the grounds to be a beautiful place with old trees and interesting sculptures. It is a nice place to take a quiet stroll and wander into the Greenwood Urban Wetlands right next door. The wetlands are a great place for a picnic by the lake. Didn't bring any food? Check out 903 Mills Market 3 blocks away! It's a quaint neighborhood spot!
